This special, handmade teapot is from the Da-Shan kiln. The pattern of the glazing creates the illusion of a grove: dark green and light yellow dappled across the surface. To achieve this, the artist has to apply the glaze to the body of the teaware and control the temperature carefully to prevent it from cracking during firing. Its is a difficult process and relies on a skillful artist to create this beautiful pattern. The glazing also increases the hardness of the surface, helping to protect the teapot from cracks and breaks.
